ECYC, youth work and violent radicalisation

In 2017 ECYC has launched a work plan dedicated to “Youth work’s role in preventing violent extremism of youth”.

This work plan is a European approach to youth work in the prevention of processes of violent radicalisation of youth leading to extremist violence, with a special focus on youth work principles, sharing of practices and communication of the role of youth work in these prevention processes. Throughout the year 2017, the various projects and activities making up this work plan will lead to new tools and synergies that can offer lasting support to young people and youth workers at national and regional levels.

The plan, supported by the Council of Europe through a European Youth Foundation grant, will be finalised at the end of 2017 and will include an international training, a European youth work policy working group and this website as part of an online communication campaign.

Currently ECYC and its member organisations are working on developing a policy-position paper on the topic of youth work’s role in preventing violent extremism of youth.
